Brent Poe

Brent Poe is currently one of the most sought after and respected guitar instructors in the Dallas area. His story is as follows:

Born in Connersville, Indiana and raised in Texas … At age 10 Brent got his first guitar. Being from a musical family it wasn’t long before his dad started introducing him to such artists as Bob Seger, Steve Miller, Pink Floyd, the Allman Brothers Band and Aerosmith to name just a few.

After a couple of years Brent started discovering his own flavors of Rock music and dove head first into artists like Ted Nugent, Pat Travers, Kiss, Led Zeppelin and many others. It wasn’t until around age 14 that Brent discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd and started blending Southern Rock stylings with the harder edged stylings of Nugent, Zeppelin and Aerosmith.

Just prior to turning 15 Brent was playing lead guitar with his first working band, comprised of two guitars, bass, drums and front man, covering everything from Clapton, Fog Hat, Skynyrd, Nugent, Molly Hatchet etc. He soon found himself playing at the Indiana State Fair ... Brent was playing lead guitar at a level way beyond his years!

By Brent’s 16th birthday he had traveled south and was living in the Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex where he soon realized he was a tiny little fish in a great big pond of awesome guitar players. He soon found himself playing with a variety of bands as a teenager in North Dallas. Eventually realizing the music business was no easy stroll through the park, Brent ended up in Sales and Marketing, training and managing sales teams for many years. He also produced Television on a national level, working directly with hundreds of CEOs from some of America's best known corporate giants.

In 2001, Brent picked up his musical pursuit and immediately returned to his blues rock back ground and formed the Brent Poe Blues Band. He later went on to perform with Nashville recording artists David James, and Jeff Smithart. Also, Texas recording artist The Gringo Kings. All the while sharing his bluesy guitar skills with many young people and adults teaching guitar. Discovering he could apply his natural gift and passion for teaching and training sales people, Brent was quickly recognized as one of the area's most sought after and respected guitar instructors.

Brent is currently the founding member of KillShot, a Dallas, Texas based band performing classic rock and "modern" country covers, as well as originals. Brent is on stand-by in search of new musical endeavors … preferably Country music. He has found all the old melodic Southern Rock leads in this resurgence of Country music and has embraced it completely.
