Jonathan Steingard

Hawk Nelson

Jonathan Steingard is the guitarist for the Canadian Pop/Rock band Hawk Nelson. Originally from the greater Toronto area, the band signed with Seattle-based Tooth and Nail Records in 2003, and has released 3 studio albums to date. Hawk Nelson’s live performances are at the heart of nearly everything they do, and their fans are among the most dedicated concert-goers out there. The band keeps a rigorous touring schedule, generally playing over 150 shows per year.

Jonathan was influenced early on by guitarist Stu G of British Pop/Rock band Delirious, and attributes much of his precise and patient playing style to this childhood hero. He often mentions Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead), Daniel Johns (Silverchair), Brett Detar (The Juliana Theory), and Tyler Burkum (Audio Adrenaline, Mat Kearney) as strong influences as well.

He uses Paul Reed Smith guitars on his adventures with HN, because, in his words... "They’re the most consistent and reliable guitars I’ve ever played... and I never have to worry about them!" He frequently cites an example of when his pedalboard went down during a show, and he had to play an entire show without tuning. "What other guitar can do that?!" He quickly points out.

Jonathan uses PRS guitars exclusively with Hawk Nelson, and plays the following models:
