The Music Business Association (Music Biz) will present its Chairman’s Award for Sustained Creative Achievement to top-selling Rock band The Doobie Brothers at the Music Biz 2015 Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 14, at 12 p.m. at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel in Nashville. The Award recognizes artists who have maintained a strong creative spirit and achieved significant commercial success throughout their career, continuing to release vital new music deep into their musical lifespan. Since forming in 1969, The Doobie Brothers have sold more than 48 million albums, including three multi-Platinum albums, seven Platinum albums, and 14 Gold albums. In addition, their greatest hits record, Best of the Doobies, has sold over 11 million copies, earning a rare RIAA Diamond certification.

Last week millions around the globe tuned in to the 50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The show took place in the home of the Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium, and the whole evening was designed to honor country music’s most talented. PRS guitars were well represented at the award show as over a dozen PRS artists were either nominated for awards or performing on stage that evening. Between the Buried and Me recently released a new song titled “Memory Palace” off of their anticipated album Coma Ecliptic set to release July 10, 2015. The band’s rhythm guitarist and PRS artist Dustie Waring can be heard laying down his aggressive yet melodic riffs. Dustie recently released his Dustie Waring Signature Model in late 2014 / early 2015 and it will be heard all over the band’s new album. Check out this post to listen to the new track!
Last spring, there were talks of a possible reunion between Carlos Santana and Journey guitarist, Neal Schon. It’s been more than 40 years since Neal Schon left Santana to form the band that would become Journey. Recently, Schon has given us evidence that he is indeed working closely with Carlos Santana on the much anticipated album Carlos IV.
You may recognize John Bohlinger’s face from the dozens of YouTube gear reviews he’s been a part of as Premier Guitar’s resident demo artist. John hails from Nashville and is a well known guitar-slinger and songwriter. His songs have been heard on over two hundred television spots and he’s worked alongside popular artists like Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Jordin Sparks, Trace Adkins, and The Beach Boys, to name a few. We took the time to ask John some questions about his gear and his experience as a full-time musician, check it out!
