You don’t forget a good rock festival. The arena sound, the big lineups, and the energy of thousands of fellow music fans. That’s why PRS teams up with The Music Experience, a traveling interactive “rock star” exhibit on-site at dozens of rock festivals around the country. Learn more about our involvement with The Music Experience and where we’re heading in this blog!
Music education is important, no doubt. As guitar builders, we see ourselves on the continual road of improvement and discovery and in the same way, guitarists and musicians undergo this journey as well. That’s why we partnered with The Entertainment Institute (TEI) during this summer’s Warped Tour. Get the recap here!
It’s been one month since we released our latest SE signature model, the SE Mark Holcomb. This now popular model brings a number of unique specs to the PRS lineup, influenced largely by our collaboration with Mark and understanding his musical style and taste. If you’re curious about the SE Mark Holcomb, hear from Mark himself in this Q&A session as we discuss specs, tones, and much more!
The Paul Reed Smith Tech Center (PTC) is in the business of making your guitar dreams a reality. In addition to standard PRS repairs and maintenance, the PTC specializes in making unique modifications to your guitar to meet your needs as a musician. The PTC job we are exploring today features an overhauled SE Mike Mushok Baritone, a guitar we offered in 2014 and for a few years prior. Check out this blog post to see the work that was done by the PTC!
Recently we announced a new line of SE guitars called the “SE Standards.” We released four models in total: the SE Standard 22, SE Standard 24, SE Standard 245, and the SE Santana Standard. The release of these models brings to market the most affordable PRS guitar to date — $499. However, our only concern wasn’t the price; we wanted a quality, great-feeling, and great-sounding instrument. Check out this blog to see why we believe the SE Standards are great for first-time guitarists (or s.asoned musicians)!
PRS signature artist Carlos Santana recently toured through Memphis, Tennessee and took some time to stop by Martin Music. While he was there he signed a brand new PRS SE Santana guitar that Martin Music is using for a silent auction. 100% of the final auction price will be donated to Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal School as part of their Anchor Auction fundraiser. The proceeds will help to fund the cost of class art projects, trips, and much more.
For the past 29 years, thousands upon thousands of music fans have been flocking to Austin, TX for the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival. Local residents refer to the madness as “South By” and it absolutely takes over their city. Downtown roads are closed as people migrate around searching for their next favorite band. PRS Guitars has had a presence at the festival for a few years but most recently opened the Shred Shed - an isolation booth where musicians can jam out!
This guitar began its life in the form of a SE Mike Mushok Baritone. The instrument came standard with a brown burst finish and a string through body stoptail bridge.
The owner was ready for a little change so he contacted the PRS PTC department. The PTC team re-routed the body to fit a Floyd Rose Tremelo and also refinished the guitar in Jet White.
As always, the PTC department did a flawless job.
We love fades, bursts, solid tops, glows, you name it. All of that gets done here in the base coat and top coat departments.
After paint is applied, a team of employees meticulously inspects every instrument. Even the smallest abnormality will not go uncorrected.
We take pride in our instruments so that when its finally in your hands, you can too.
