Meet The Model: PRS S2 Satins

Filed Under Electrics / S2 Series / Meet The Model

After months of research and development, play testing, and fine tuning, we are proud to present three S2 Satin models! Below you can meet the S2 Singlecut Satin, S2 Standard 24 Satin, and S2 Standard 22 Satin - starting at $999.

Each of these new satin models will be offered in Charcoal, McCarty Tobacco, Vintage Cherry, and Vintage Mahogany. These super thin satin nitro finishes not only feel great, but allow the mahogany to sing a warm, balanced tone.

/

For reference, the finish on a typical PRS Core or S2 guitar is 9-10 mils thick, our new satin finishes are about 1 mil thick - a tenth of the thickness of our already super-thin finish offerings. But what does this mean for your tone? PRS recording artist, Bryan Ewald noticed this, “There’s almost nothing choking the wood, so it produces an even more resonant guitar that sustains like crazy!”

For players looking for something different than our standard high-gloss neck feel, the S2 Satin’s have a great natural, worn-in comfort.

Now let’s meet the models.

Unless it improves playability, I wouldn't and add anything to these that will increase the cost. Please add a wrap-around bridge model.

The singlecut needs the birds, though, and neck biding :)

An S2 Satin Mira version would be great too.

you really need to change the color of the screws on the pickguards - to match the pickguards - chrome on black looks cheap

I recently purchased a standard 22 satin in cherry red and it's now my favorite guitar. It's very comfortable to play and sounds amazing.
