PRS SC 58 Wins MIPA for Best Electric Guitar 2011/2012

PRS Guitars is proud to announce that the popular SC 58 model has received the Musikmesse International Press Award (mipa) for “Best Electric Guitar” 2011/2012. Press from all over the world voted for this year’s most revered musical gear, and winners were announced at the Musikmesse/Prolight + Sound trade show in Frankfurt, Germany on March 22, 2012. The mipa is known as the “Grammy" of the Musical Instrument/Pro Audio industry.

“The mipa award is by far the most prestigious award in our musical instrument industry. For everyone who designed, marketed, and built these instruments at PRS, I am very appreciative. I also wish to thank the press for their vote of confidence,” said Paul Reed Smith.

The SC 58 is a vintage inspired single-cut that is perfect for more traditional single-cutaway players. The 24.5” scale length and electronics appointments make this instrument instantly comfortable to players who grew up using short scale guitars. While PRS’s newly designed 2-piece bridge brings modern innovation to the SC 58 and enhances the natural resonance of the instrument.

Additional features include an artist grade maple top, mahogany back, natural binding, 22 fret mahogany neck, East Indian rosewood fretboard, rosewood headstock overlay with inlaid signature, “Pattern” neck shape, mother of pearl and paua heart Modern Eagle II bird inlays, “SC 58” engraved truss rod cover, PRS Phase III locking tuners, hybrid hardware (with a gold hardware option), and 57/08 treble and 59/09 bass pickups. The electronics configuration features a volume and tone control for each pickup and a three-way toggle pickup switch on the upper bout.

Color options include: Amber Black, Black, Black Gold Burst, Blue Crab Blue, Charcoal Burst, Eriza Verde, Faded Blue Burst, Faded Gray Black, Fire Red Burst, Gold Burst, Gold Top, McCarty Tobacco Sunburst, McCarty Sunburst, Purple Hazel, Santana Yellow, Scarlet Smokeburst, Solana Burst, Teal Black, Vintage Burst, and Whale Blue.
