To celebrate 30 years, PRS Guitars is offering 30th Anniversary Custom 24 models in every tier of its product offering: Private Stock, Core (including an Artist Package option), S2, and SE. The Custom 24 is the original PRS, updated here with a unique inlay pattern and commemorative truss rod cover for players who want to capture this historic moment of PRS.
The Private Stock program began in 1996 as a way to bring instruments that Paul envisioned to light outside of the normal manufacturing process. Private Stock has since served as an incubator for new models, a place for Paul and the Private Stock team to create the instruments of their dreams, and the place for you to create the most customized, most personally-crafted instruments of your dreams – all built in the PRS Maryland, USA shop.
The Private Stock 30th Anniversary Custom 24 sixty-piece run nods to the past while embodying every detail learned in the past thirty years.
When PRS Guitars started in 1985, there was no “Core” line. There were simply two models: the PRS Custom and the PRS Guitar. As PRS’s history has unfolded, the need to refer to the guitars that most closely grew from these first instruments and the first manufacturing philosophies became apparent…and the “Core” line moniker was born. As the name suggests, these instruments are at the core, the heart of PRS.
The 30th Anniversary Custom 24 celebrates thirty years of building the guitars Paul saw the need for in the 1970’s and 80’s. It celebrates ingenuity, quality, and persistence.
When the S2 Series was announced in 2013, the Custom 24 was among the first models offered. As the flagship of PRS, the Custom 24 is the guitar that defines PRS playability and tone. When it was introduced as one of the inaugural S2 models, the hope was to provide a reimaged USA-made guitar for a new player with a new style and design mentality. The S2 Custom 24 surpassed expectations, providing a highly-resonant, workhorse guitar with all the quality of PRS craftsmanship.
The S2 30th Anniversary Custom 24 celebrates the innovation and history of PRS design and manufacturing.
The SE project has been a major part of PRS since it began in 2001. The SE line was started with the goal of providing instruments that you don’t have to fight to play, and now the SE line of electrics, acoustics, and basses are played by beginners, gigging players, and stadium-touring artists all over the world. The SE 30th Anniversary Custom 24 celebrates not only the anniversary of PRS as a whole, but the growth that has allowed PRS to partner with quality manufacturers overseas to build PRS-designed instruments to players at the most affordable levels.
As always, the SE 30th Anniversary Custom 24 guitars that are sold in the US are individually inspected and play tested at the PRS Maryland shop prior to shipping.
