Born in our Maryland shop, PRS Acoustics are heirloom-quality instruments with remarkable tone and exquisite playability. A small team of experienced luthiers handcraft all Maryland-made PRS acoustics with passion and attention to detail. Our team of wood buyers scour the globe for the most exquisite sounding and looking tone woods for these instruments. In this blog, we show off a few of our latest creations made from the prized Koa wood found on the islands of Hawaii.
Every once in a while on our blog you’ll see a post title labled “missed connections.” It’s our way of making sure you have a chance to see all of the great limited run guitars that we make - often in very small batches! This “missed connection” features the Private Stock Tree of Life Angelus we released a few months ago, take a peek!
Check out this blog to get up close and personal with Alex Lifeson of Rush! Over the past few years we have worked closely with Alex to develop two guitars he can be proud to play on tour and in the studio: the SE Alex Lifeson and the Private Stock Alex Lifeson models. In these exclusive videos, Alex discusses his ongoing R40 tour with Rush, the development behind his new PRS models, and how he uses them on tour.
Recently we began crafting a run of acoustic guitars we named “Birds Of A Feather.” These unique instruments use both Ebony and Koa woods in the fretboard to create the visual effect of birds bursting out of a dense flock. PRS Acoustic guitars are prized for their resonance, playability, and the keen attention to detail our luthiers exercise while building these instruments. Check out the photos in this blog to see the “Birds Of A Feather” up close!
While many people are familiar with PRS as an electric guitar manufacturer, few are aware of a small acoustic shop we’ve tucked above our main electric production floor. Nestled in this secluded area within our Maryland factory, 10 luthiers build boutique heirloom-quality acoustic guitars in small batch runs. This blog post covers one of these small batch runs, The Rosettes.
Guitarist Tony Polecastro from the Acoustic Letter walks viewers through a detailed demo of one of our acoustic guitar models, the Tony McManus Private Stock Acoustic.
As Tony puts it, “this guitar is dressed to the hilt and sounds incredible.”

It’s a well known fact that if you subject your guitar to extreme temperatures/humidity in either direction, it’s dangerous. As our Sr. Acoustic Luthier Mike Byle puts it, “a guitar is a cellular thing, it’s made of wood, not plastic, it was once a living breathing thing.” Check out this blog post to make sure you are caring for your acoustic guitar properly!
