You don’t forget a good music festival. The arena sound, the big lineups, and the energy of thousands of fellow music fans. Each year, PRS teams up with “The Music Experience,” a traveling interactive musical instruments exhibit that visits rock and blues festivals around the country. Being inside The Music Experience tent gives us an opportunity to meet music fans and share our love of great guitars and amps. Here’s a quick recap of this year’s festivals.
In January 2018, we decided to kick off the year with a bang by announcing an entirely new lineup of PRS SE Acoustics. It’s safe to say that a lot of time was dedicated to researching, play-testing, and shaping the sound of these new instruments. Discover the sounds of the new SE Acoustic lineup here.
For artists and fans alike, the Vans Warped Tour is a bit magical; there is really nothing like it as bands travel together to play in 38 cities in 46 days. As you can imagine, the schedule and sheer effort it takes to pull-off a traveling tour of this magnitude is grueling. We caught up with a few PRS artists on this year’s tour to get the scoop on what it’s really like.
With the launch of the SE Santana model in 2001, a whole new breed of players and guitar lovers had access to PRS quality at a much more affordable pricepoint. To this day, SE guitars are revered as a sort of “boutique import” and played on stage by thousands of musicians around the globe. Jack Higginbotham served as PRS Guitars’ president during the time when our SE line was first introduced to the world. Below he explains the story and how our SE line came to be.

Music education is important, no doubt. As guitar builders, we see ourselves on the continual road of improvement and discovery and in the same way, guitarists and musicians undergo this journey as well. That’s why we partnered with The Entertainment Institute (TEI) during this summer’s Warped Tour. Get the recap here!
If you’re a guitarist, having a reliable, smooth playing, and awesome sounding acoustic is a must. Acoustic guitars have an unmistakable voicing that goes great with bonfires on the beach, jam sessions at home, and camping with your friends. We believe there’s an acoustic for everyone, all you need to do is find your perfect fit. PRS offers four acoustic models, all beautiful sounding, yet uniquely different. Check them out in this blog post!

For the past 29 years, thousands upon thousands of music fans have been flocking to Austin, TX for the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival. Local residents refer to the madness as “South By” and it absolutely takes over their city. Downtown roads are closed as people migrate around searching for their next favorite band. PRS Guitars has had a presence at the festival for a few years but most recently opened the Shred Shed - an isolation booth where musicians can jam out!
It’s a well known fact that if you subject your guitar to extreme temperatures/humidity in either direction, it’s dangerous. As our Sr. Acoustic Luthier Mike Byle puts it, “a guitar is a cellular thing, it’s made of wood, not plastic, it was once a living breathing thing.” Check out this blog post to make sure you are caring for your acoustic guitar properly!
The SE A10E is the first all-mahogany guitar in the SE Angelus line up. It is offered in two colors, Tortoise Shell and Black. The all-mahogany body construction of this guitar provides a controlled attack and strong fundamental, delivering a warm, woody tone with a focused, punchy midrange. This strong midrange character allows the A10E to easily find a non-competing place in a mix, making it ideal for both the studio and the stage.
We had a great time joining the Warped Tour this year for one of their stops on the east coast!
As the official acoustic guitar of the Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys, PRS Guitars would like to thank all our fans, the BandHappy folks, and our Warped tour artists, including the Full Sail University Acoustic Basement artists for backing our guitars and putting them through the paces on a nationwide tour. We had a blast and the turnout at our booth was fantastic! We had artist signings paired with the opportunity for fans to try out our SE Angelus acoustic guitars.

On Tuesday, October 1, 2013, Hard Rock officially celebrated the Grand Reopening of its newly renovated Baltimore location by partnering with Paul Reed Smith Guitars, a Maryland-based guitar manufacturer, to donate 16 new PRS SE Angelus acoustic guitars to Baltimore’s Frederick Douglass High School’s music department. The donation, which was accepted by the school’s band director, honored PRS Guitars and Hard Rock Cafe’s long standing traditions ofsupporting local music. “These guitars are truly a blessing, and I guarantee they will be well loved and well played” said Douglass Band Director, Reverend David Burton.
