For the past 29 years, thousands upon thousands of music fans have been flocking to Austin, TX for the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival. Local residents refer to the madness as “South By” and it absolutely takes over their city. Downtown roads are closed as people migrate around searching for their next favorite band.

There is no shortage of musical options — over 2,200 regional, national, and international acts performed as this year’s festival. Hundreds of shops and bars are converted to makeshift music venues where multiple genres of music are represented: hip-hop, indie-rock, folk, jazz, and many more.

PRS Guitars has had a presence at the festival for the past few years and has enjoyed creating and cultivating relationships with musicians in the industry. For the second year, PRS has sponsored the “Shred Shed” an 8 x 10 ft isolation booth with guitars and amps available for players to wail on.

Here’s a look at our time in the city and in the convention center where people were shredding!

In addition to the Shred Shed, we had stations set up where you could plug in headphones and demo any of the 15 guitars we had on site!

See you later Austin, PRS had fun!

We had such a great time meeting new musicians, talking with PRS fans, and sharing in the love of music. Many people we met asked how they could learn more about our guitars or find a dealer. Click here to see products and here for our dealer list!
