Behind The Gear

There are many myths of the American West and the fabled American Cowboy. While some of the myths are not kind and perhaps treacherous, the romanticism of wide open spaces, the coveted American Dream, and singing and playing guitar by the campfire continue to stir our imagination of Cowboy life.

During this golden age of the American Western, the American guitar took on a new persona. From mail order novelties to top of the line models from the best brands, the Cowboy Guitar was all the rage. A guitar had to reflect the swagger and gusto of the larger than life heroes - the cowboys - who were the wild, wild West…

For years, the cowboy theme permeated American culture and influenced the pop culture in all corners of the world. The singing cowboys of Hollywood helped shape American Country-Western music and ultimately Rock n’ Roll. The clothes, the boots, and the hats are symbols adopted by musicians covering multiple genres: Country, Rockabilly, Americana, Rock n’ Roll, and Punk Rock. People from all walks of life can identify with the image of the lone cowboy.

To continue this tradition and celebrate this American Icon, PRS Private Stock Acoustic Guitars present the Country Western Tonare.

Handcrafted by a small group of luthiers, the Country Western Tonare features quilted maple back and sides, a figured maple neck, a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, a Brazilian rosewood bridge, and a beautiful Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer elegantly displaying a Mammoth Ivory Private Stock Eagle.

Adorning the fret board are a pair of crossed six shooters, a long horn skull, and stars which compliment the lasso, horse shoe and star rosette. To finish off the package, the Country Western Tonare is wrapped up in a Western “Tooled Leather” Style case.

Less than 20 of these magnificent guitars will be built and availability is quite limited. Please contact an Authorized PRS Private Stock Acoustic Dealer for more information.
