Experience PRS Event Marks its Seventh Year with Record Attendance and a New Product Line

Posted Sep 19, 2013

Experience PRS, now in its seventh year, has become a significant part of MI calendars and PRS history. This event, held each September at PRS Guitars’ manufacturing facility in Stevensville, Maryland, brings together a unique combination of authorized PRS dealers and distributors, worldwide press, celebrated PRS artists, and PRS customers and enthusiasts for two days of fun, education, and appreciation. From its humble beginnings in 2007 with an attendance of around 800 people, the event is expected to attract close to 3,000 attendees this year from all over the globe. The 2013 event notably marks the first time PRS will open its doors to highlight the new S2 manufacturing line. Considered one of the most significant launches in the company’s history, the S2 Series offers Maryland-made PRS guitars in the $1,000 - $1,500 price range.

Each year, PRS opens its doors and creates an exciting and interactive schedule, including free-flowing factory tours, interactive guitar making (hosted by the PRS Private Stock team), artist clinics, recording demonstrations, and evening concerts. But, this event has become more than an open house for PRS fans to have a “backstage pass” at the PRS factory in Stevensville, MD. With an incredible selection of PRS instruments on display, it has become a destination event for players to pick their next PRS guitar or amplifier. Recognizing this, PRS built several small batches of unique guitars for the 2013 event, including two models specially designed to commemorate the Experience: the Experience PRS 2013 Semi-Hollow 408 and the Experience PRS 2013 Private Stock Custom 22. Other unique configurations include a Maple Neck Custom 24, a Swamp Ash Custom 24, a P24 Trem, and a Singlecut Trem.

But perhaps the most significant draw is the opportunity to explore the PRS S2 Series firsthand. With guided and free-flowing tours of the new manufacturing line and plenty of guitars to test drive, S2 is one of the event’s major themes with the main concert on Friday night featuring S2 artist JJ Grey & Mofro proudly playing an S2 Starla. Other artists in attendance this year include Brent Mason, Davy Knowles, Emil Werstler, Gary Grainger, Lance Lopez, Martin Simpson, Nicky Moroch, Rhonda Smith, Simon McBride, Wyzard, SOJA, Tim Pierce, and David Grissom. David Grissom is hosting a private event for the company’s Signature Club on Thursday evening to announce his new signature amplifiers: the DG Custom 30 and 50 amplifiers and DG Custom 2x12 cabinet.
