PRS Guitars Named as the Exclusive Official Acoustic Guitar of the Van’s Warped Tour

Posted May 28, 2014

Paul Reed Smith Guitars, a leading US manufacturer of high quality electric and acoustic guitars, is pleased to announce a major sponsorship of the 2014 Vans Warped Tour presented by Journeys. As the exclusive acoustic guitar of the summer-long festival, PRS Guitars will be activating in Warped’s Acoustic Basement at over forty concert events this summer, starting on June 11 in Anchorage, Alaska, traversing the USA, and culminating in a final concert on August 3 in Denver, Colorado. PRS also has planned a special consumer-facing element at the July 22 Columbia, Maryland event where the Maryland guitar manufacturer plans on spending some quality down time with music fans.

Since 2012 the Full Sail University Acoustic Basement stage has featured leading and up-and-coming acoustic acts within the punk/indie/folk genres in the setting and spirit of an intimate punk basement show. The Acoustic Basement’s semi-indoor tented stage offers a respite from the full-band stages of this massive annual touring festival. Basement audiences are able to get up close and personal with the artists, relax in the shade, and get a break from the clamor of the crowd. Kevin Lyman, Director of the Van’s Warped Tour states, “As the Acoustic Basement has grown into a focal point, it is awesome that PRS has stepped up to support this aspect of the tour.”

SE Angelus guitars are as comfortable on stage at the Vans Warped Tour as they are in a small club or in your basement. Made with high quality components, including solid backs of either mahogany or rosewood, solid spruce tops, bone nuts and saddles, and PRS designed SE tuners, these guitars are highly reliable and instantly comfortable to play. They share the same “hybrid X/Classical” bracing pattern as the acclaimed Maryland-made PRS Acoustic guitars and feature a PRS pick-up system that highlights their rich, resonant, and responsive tone.

“The SE Acoustic line is a major accomplishment for PRS. The value and integrity of these instruments are remarkable, making them a great fit for first-time buyers and gigging musicians,” said Paul Reed Smith.

This year, concert goers can get a break from the high decibels of the main stage by visiting the Acoustic Basement for intimate acoustic performances by Brian Marquis, Bad Rabbits, Front Porch Step and Anthony Raneri of Bayside and more. While there, fans are sure to hear the lush sounds of PRS Guitars SE Angelus steel string acoustics. SE acoustics will also be used for demonstrations at the BandHappy educational space on the Van’s Warped Tour festival grounds. PRS Guitars is also planning a summer promotion in conjunction with this sponsorship. The Grand Prize will be one SE Angelus valued at $689. Details and complete official rules on the promotion will be posted on www.prsguitars.com closer to the start of the Vans Warped Tour.
