PRS Looking Positive after Winter Storm Causes Roof Damage

Posted Jan 26, 2016

After more than 24 hours and a foot of snowfall compounded by high winds and snow drifts, the PRS Guitars factory in Stevensville, Maryland sustained roof damage over the weekend. The damage was near the company’s staining/finish area, where some water pooled inside the building and a small portion of the roof did eventually collapse. Thankfully, no manufacturing operations were under the compromised portion of the roof.

“First of all, it is important to say that the building was unoccupied at the time and no one was hurt. In fact, everyone has been incredibly flexible and helpful, which reminds me of what a great team we have working here. As far as the building, at this point, things are looking very positive. We expect to be back in production this week, and we are thankful that the interruption will be a matter of days – not weeks,” offered Jamie Mann, Vice President of Operations for PRS Guitars.

Paul Reed Smith and many others from the company were attending the winter NAMM tradeshow in Anaheim, California at the time of the incident. “It was very stressful to hear the news and not be there to check out the situation first hand,” said Jack Higginbotham, President, “but we knew the building was unoccupied and were able to respond quickly. A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who is helping and reaching out with support at this time.”

As a result of the damage, factory tours will be suspended until June 7*. If you have a tour scheduled, or for more information, please see http://www.prsguitars.com/tours/

*Due to ongoing construction, tours are now postponed until June 7. (Factory tours were originally suspended until March 1).
