Meet The Models: SE Acoustic Guitars

Behind The Gear

If you’re a guitarist, having a reliable, smooth playing, and awesome sounding acoustic is a must. Acoustic guitars have an unmistakable voicing that goes great with bonfires on the beach, jam sessions at home, and camping with your friends. We believe there’s an acoustic for everyone, all you need to do is find your perfect fit.

PRS offers four acoustic models, all beautiful sounding, yet uniquely different. Let’s check them out below!

SE A10E

/

The SE A10E has an all-mahogany body with a warm, woody tone. We offer the A10E in two finish options, Tortoise Shell and Black. The all-mahogany body construction of this guitar provides a controlled attack and strong fundamental, delivering a warm tone with a focused, punchy midrange. This strong midrange character allows the A10E to easily find a non-competing place in a mix, making it ideal for both the studio and the stage.

SE A20E

/

The SE A20E keeps the A10’s mahogany back and sides but adds a sitka spruce top to the mix. This pairing of a solid spruce top with mahogany is a classic favorite. You’ll find the A20E has a strong, even tone with plenty of sustain. Plus, it just looks great.

SE A30E

The SE A30E also features a solid spruce top but pairs it with beautiful rosewood. The rosewood back and sides give the A30E bell-light highs and full bass response. The A30E is the only SE acoustic in the lineup with an ebony fretboard and bridge, helping to provide an overtone-rich sound.

SE ALEX LIFESON

/

This unique SE acoustic was developed through a collaboration with RUSH guitarist and PRS artist Alex Lifeson. Alex has been a longtime fan of PRS acoustic guitars, often seen playing them live and in the studio. Through close communication, Alex and PRS developed an instrument which offers a number of unique appointments. Most notably, it’s thinner body depth. The thinner depth provides an extremely comfortable playing experience and thus handles gigs and live-playing very well. A “Birds in Flight” inlay adorns the rosewood fretboard and pairs nicely with the unique back and sides crafted from figured Dao wood. Players will find a noticeably warm and resonate tone in the SE Alex Lifeson - even when amplified!

I was very pleased when PRS presented me with my SE Angelus acoustic, a beautiful guitar of stunning quality. It was in response to the challenge of building a guitar that shared the integrity and attention to detail that the Alex Lifeson Private Stock Angelus possesses in a package more broadly accessible. The SE Alex Lifeson Thinline is that model. Carefully selected materials, expert craftsmanship and a smart approach to concept resulted in a guitar that is beautiful to look at and rewarding to play.” – Alex Lifeson

While the four SE acoustics are all a bit different, we still believe in a few overarching principles for our acoustics and we won’t compromise!

Solid Top Woods

/

A solid top vs a laminate makes a large difference in the instrument’s response, resonance, and articulation.

Our speciality bracing.

/

We use an X-Brace/Classical Hybrid bracing design for our SE acoustics, the same exact design found on our esteemed Private Stock acoustic guitars.

Bone Nut and Saddle

/

Small materials can make a big difference, and the nut and saddle are a great example of this. PRS uses bone material for the nut and saddle to optimize resonance and clarity for your playing.

A Full USA Setup and Inspection

/

Every PRS acoustic shipped in the US comes to our Maryland headquarters for a full-USA set up and inspection. PRS has a “no b-stock” policy, when you get an SE acoustic you’re getting our best.

Hardshell Cases

/

Protect your investment, all PRS acoustics come with a hardshell case. You’ll get to and from that gig safely, don’t worry!
